The Irish Car of the Year Awards in association with Continental Tyres began in 1978. They quickly became the most prestigious motoring accolades in this country and a must-attend event for car makers and other automotive figures.
The awards are run and hosted by the Irish Car of the Year Committee, which includes many of Ireland’s most experienced and knowledgeable motoring journalists. The Committee also acts as the judging panel, road-testing all vehicles during each calendar year and casting their votes in each category – and for the overall winner.
The awards now have an online presence and we’re delighted to welcome you aboard. Here, we will keep you up to date on Irish Car of the Year winners, past and present. We’ll also bring you the latest news on which vehicles are in the running for the current awards program.
Awards a resource for would-be buyers
In addition to honouring the best new cars – and the companies responsible for making them – each year, the Irish Car of the Year website is also designed to help would-be car buys make up their minds.
By showcasing the latest in automotive and mobility technology, especially in the area of driver and passenger safety, the awards highlight the vehicles that are best suited to Irish roads and Irish conditions.
We’ll be bringing you all the highlights and headlines from the 2018 awards ceremony. 11 category prizes were up for grabs including the coveted Irish Car of the Year Award for 2018.
We’ll also turn our attention to the 2019 awards program, with updates and news flashes coming your way as new models are launched onto the Irish market.
And we’ll have lots more news from the world of motoring, including must-read news, reviews and write-ups from Ireland’s best motoring journalists.
